Pungent smoke billowed from the gills of the underworld, twisting and writhing like a feverish ghost. A lone figure stalked along the brink of the shadows, a rakish curl to his whiskers, a saturnine gleam in his heavy-lidded eyes.

He lifted his haughty nose, the warm, damp scent of his city rushing into his lungs, an intoxicating giddiness. Orbs glittered overhead, exposing the illicit weaving mischief through the night. In the distance, a beat throbbed, the pulse bleeding through the tangled buildings.

He was filled with a sense of pride, and a sort of love, as he looked back on the tempest of his creation. Desire and hunger had wreaked havoc on the neat pavement behind him, imparting his unmistakeable signature.

Another night, his rhythm, his realm.
